Simon Chapman

After putting three years of student comedy and university revues under his belt, Chappo and his band of merry men took their tights and flashy form of sketch and musical comedy to the big stage in the 2004 and 2005 Melbourne International Comedy Festivals. And while the wide world of entertainment called, so too did the wide world, and Simon opted for a two year international odyssey that involved everything from public speaking jobs in the USA to running hostels in Spain, teaching English in Guatemala to economic conventions in India. Don’t ask…

Upon his return, Simon immediately stepped back into entertainment by transforming the street music icon BEAT magazine into the online world of BEATtv. Producing, writing and performing all the comedy put the thirst back on his lips, and soon enough the alarm clock sounded and breakfast radio called…

Since then Mix 101.1 in Melbourne has been his home away from bed. Having now had 2 years radio experience with Brig Duclos and Tom Gleeson, Chappo has been their on-air bit player, comedy writer, assistant producer and station link to the elusive Gen Y. His on-air persona The Pup is now let off the leash daily for stunts, street activity, generational insight and sketch madness. He also hosts the Saturday weekly review show, The Champagne Breakfast.

Late in 2008 Chappo also made his steps into TV, writing and talent booking for Andrew O’Keefe’s variety/improv 7HD show This Is Your Laugh.
