Rhys Uhlich

Rhys Uhlich, the winner of Channel 7’s ‘Make me a Supermodel’ was plucked from obscurity last year when he was voted by the public as Australia’s next super model.  The national television show, hosted by Jennifer Hawkins launched Rhys’ media career.

After successfully completing his Bachelor of Arts degree, majoring in Psychology and TV documentary, Rhys worked as a Primary School Physical Education teacher.  He is passionate about kids, filmmaking, surfing and now, fashion and modelling.

A documentary filmmaker, he has travelled to Indonesia about 10 times. On a recent two month jungle and surfing safari, he hung out with locals, filmed and took advantage of the outstanding surf and caught dengue fever. It was still one of his greatest experiences in life, dengue fever and all!

During his time on ‘Make Me A Supermodel’, Rhys confirmed his drive to take challenges head on, wanting to put himself in situations where he is out of his comfort zone.  This was a great example of being completely in new territory and succeeding.

While Rhys has worked as a part-time photographic model since he was a teenager, mainly in catalogues, it was only recently that he became confident enough to step out from his type cast, successfully morphing himself in a short amount of time from surfer dude to high end fashion model.

Having secured modelling representation in New York, LA and Melbourne, Rhys currently splits his time between the 3 major cities.

He recently returned to Melbourne to be guest co-host on NOVA Nights. Rhys is really excited about the future and has enjoyed every moment his new experiences on television have brought him. He looks forward to more television presenting having recently appeared on Channel 10’s ‘Talkin’ ‘Bout Your Generation’…..he cannot wait to see what the future holds.
