Russell Gilbert, Marty Fields, Molly Meldrum and his dog Ziggy, Trevor Marmalade and Suze Raymond reunited with host Darryl Somers and the old Hey Hey team for 2 triumphant reunion shows. Each of the Hey Hey Specials rated more than 2.16 million viewers in Melbourne, Sydney, Adelaide, Perth and Brisbane during their live broadcasts. The show attracted more than 60,000 tweets on twitter during the broadcast and easily won the night. Viewers said Russell Gilbert’s parody of Celebrity Masterchef disaster chef was “one of the funniest things on television for years”.
